Windows 10: My mainboard turns off my usb ports when i power off my computer

  1.    3 Days Ago #1

Can i make my usb ports stay on after i turn off my computer?

I need my usb ports on the front to stay on after i shut off my computer so they can charge my headphones during the night, but my mainboard shuts off the usb port so my headphones are low on battery when i wake up the next morning. I did some googling but didnt find any solutions.

As far as i can see, this is regarding waking the computer up with a keyboard. What i want is the usb ports to continue to work after my computer has been shut off. Or did i miss something?

Bios would have to have "USB always on" feature, look in the MB manual.
    PS.
Just looked at manual and can't find that option but look for AI Charger, that may be it. Manual is not very detailed.

Depending on year of mobo....that is a feature known as "always on". Not sure when that became the norm. Mine does it with out changing any settings in the BIOS.

That is what its for, but if your motherboard has those jumpers, it will do what you want. Mine has those jumpers. If I move them my USB ports stay powered after shutting down the PC. They get power from the auxiliary +5V in the power supply that is also used to power up the PC when you press the power button. To power my PC up with a mouse click or keyboard key, those jumpers have to be set as per the instruction. I can set those jumpers but not use that function if I want. I just don't change the BIOS setting to do it. The +5V is there but pressing a key or mouse button doesn't do anything. It's a two step process.

I just looked through the bios. I didnt see any always on feature for the usb ports, same goes for ai charger. I did see an option called epu power saving mode, but changing it didnt solve the problem.

I also found the jumper on my motherboard, but changing its position just gave me a message saying there was no keyboard connected to my computer, so i had to move it back again. It didnt make the usb port on the front stay on after i turned off my computer.
