    Folder refresh issues

I have been having this issue for quite a long time now, so any suggestions welcome.

Actions that I perform in folders are not visible until I refresh the folder.

Let's say I am downloading a file, I click "new folder", nothing happens, I then have to hit F5 to refresh the current folder to see the one I just created.
I then have to refresh manually to see the file I just downloaded.

Same issue with thumbnails, I have to continuously refresh in order to get them to display, they seem to be getting re-generated every time as they display very slowly.

I was also having an issue with thumbnails simply not showing, but I recen

I have already done the following.
performed a chkdsk to fix any errors
    done sfc/scannow
    done DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

I see this is a couple months without an update or response, but I having the same exact issue. Have jumped through a slew of so called fixes, yet the problem persists.

Have done the SFC, editing and or adding DontRefresh in reg, removed a couple shells (classic shell and OldNewExplorer) and quite a few others and no joy. It's silly that I have to hit F5 over and over when doing things in folders. And it's only in Explorer. My Recycle bin shows empty and having items in it without a problem. It's literally only with content being added or removed from a folder... the folders don't refresh.

This is driving me right up a wall.

Sorry for your troubles. Don't have a clue as to what's causing this, or a point solution on how to fix this specific problem. That said, this is just the kind of mysterious weirdness that an "upgrade repair install" is very good at fixing. See @Brink's excellent tutorial on this subject: Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade for more info and step-by-step instructions. It's what I would do in your shoes, so it might be worth trying.
