Under "Boot Option Menu".....I used the arrow key to highlight "EFI USB Device".....pessed "enter".....up came that screen.....thats what I arrowed/highlighted/pressed/entered.....thats that.

How in the workd can someone even post a screenshot of something that is booted up as the only thing on the screen, when there is no place to go to and try to do it and no w10 tab on the screen, obviously, to go to.

The words on the right are blue (will probably "open"?) - thats the onlu blue color.
And Bree - you said clicking on red button to close it?? The window does have the usual X top right to close a window.

You can use a phone or a camera to take a shot of the screen. Do you see these screens on your PC?

This is what you should see as the usb is booting...

Then when it has finished booting you should see a screen like this. If by now you have made an image, then it may appear in the right hand pane, if not it should look like this.

There's a 'taskbar' at the bottom, just like in Windows. The red button at the bottom left will shut down Macrium with the option to restart or shut down, the red cross at the top right will shut down Macrium and restart the PC.

Well done. You have successfully made the Macrium recovery usb and now know how to boot from it.

But it does not go away pressing the red button.
If you move slowly, then shortly after your mouse is over the red button a help text pops up. if you click while that text is there it just makes the text go away.

Click again when there's no text and you get an option box in the middle of the screen, choose Reboot or Shutdown and click OK.

Great. That's enough for today - it's getting late in both our time zones.

Tomorrow you can try making your first image.

Congratulations on creating your rescue media successfully. I was really glad to see that.

EDIT: I let it slip that Bree mentioned you can do your first image backup today so go with that. You can change the recommended detention rules change once your image backup s successful.
Please don't let this confuse you. Follow Bree's plan.

There are a couple of Macrium Reflect default settings I believe you should change.
One of them is the Default retention rules settings
Since you are using a 64GB USB you should change their default setting of 12 full backups to 2.
--- 3 might be ok, but as time goes on 3 might be too much and then you'd have to go back and change your setting and I think you wouldn't want to go back and do this again.

Hereís how: BTW, you wonít have to do this again once itís set.

    Open Macrium Reflect

Click on Other Tasks. You will see a drop-down menu: click on Edit Defaults.
This is a partial screen shot of what you will see.
Thatís because my screen shot has my default setting to 3.
Click on Retention Rules highlighted in blue

Here is my retention rules screenshot that includes Macrium Reflect defaults
Notice that Full Keep is 12 backups. Mine shows 3 but change yours to 2.
Also Purge before a backup isnít checked, I changed that and checked it.
If someone recommends different donít let it confuse you: at this point in time donít worry about it as I might follow that advice myself.
When finished click on OK at the bottom: I forgot to include OK on my screenshot but itís there.

(??.....I went to post, said "token expired, refresh the page", then it was gone, had to do post over again.....never did that....)

So resc media only used for extreme trouble when comp wont come on normal way?

Otherwise, hard to understand diff between having an image on a usb, vs going to the recov/reset on the comp.....it says I can keep personal stuff.....and I'm assuming that means the things I added or changed, bkmks, pswds, shtcuts, the way I have it set up.....after the new as-is condition?

***EDIT***.....for got to ask whatever happened to the simple couple of clicks 'restore pint'?......if comp starts running crappy, couple of clicks brings it all back a day/week b4 when it was okay.,,...simple,

System Restore is still available, you need to turn Restore Points on or at least ensure they are On. ( and have a enough space allocated )

System restore can be flaky. Macrium isn't.

Some people swear by system restore. Some don't.

Keep your personal stuff keeps your data. All programs and the settings are wiped. Macrium restores it all the way it was when you last took an Image.

Edit: I should add that Restore Points don't survive Feature updates, like 1709 to 1803. Sure you can rollback but after 10 days that option is also gone.
