    The computer is likely x64.
To determine whether x64 or x86 open command prompt > administrator: X:\windows\system32\cmd.exe and when it displays inside the black bos: X:\sources>
    type: wmic os get osarchitecture
For the Kyhi bootable rescue disk this is one option:
    Win14393PESE_x64 ISO v170116 (New)

Thanks again for trying to help, but could I suggest that asking for pictures of every step you ask to be taken and then responding by saying there are too many to go through, is just going to cause frustration.
Better to say that you don't know how to fix a problem than lead someone on a wild goose chase.

There were too many surprises so the boot rescue was suggested.
This way you can save the files and clean up the problems with the drive.

If I could have fixed the problems without putting the files at risk I would have.

Hi Thompa, We have the same problem. Your screen shots look just like ours and there is no recovery options available on the PC (Dell Studio XPS) that we can find. I'm wondering if you ever found a fix.

Start the computer, wait ten or fifteen seconds, then press and hold the power button until the machine shuts down. Do this twice and the third time the computer should boot into recovery mode.

I have the same problem as Thompa, my computer is cooked after the 1803 update, I'm ready for a chrome book sick of Microsoft BS problems.

This is widely being reported in Answers forum too. There is no known fix to this yet, unfortunately.

Could it be that Microsoft have pulled it from Windows Update?
Since upgrading to 1709 with KB4103714 Cumulative Update, I no longer have the 1803 update in Windows Updates.
