    Annoying Office 365 notice

    I bought a new computer recently that came with Office 365 for 30 days. Since I bought a copy of Office 2016, I let the subscription expire. However, I still get annoying notices that my subscription expired every time I open a spreadsheet. Can I get rid of the notice?

    Did you first Uninstall the included trial copy before installing the purchased copy? Settings, Apps.

    Yes, I removed Office 365 first but I used Revo uninstaller. Was that not the way to uninstall it?

    Can't say it was wrong but I only use Revo when the normal uninstall can't do the job. At this point I'd try CCleaner to clean up but as all the caveats say, be careful when playing in the Registry. I've been using CCleaner for a number of years [since back when its name was CrapCleaner] and not had a problem but that may not always be true for others.

    Same here....I first got wind of CrapCleaner from Popular Mechanics magazine of all places. Back in the day of "Dial Up".

    I ran CCleaner and am still getting the reminder to reactivate my subscription.

    The message (see below) asks for a product key so I entered the key I used to activate my Office 2016 and it seemed happy but when I started Excel again, I got the same message.

    I had a similar problem with the trial/2016. I was given a program by MS support to uninstall the trial version, but escapes me at the moment, but will keep looking. Have you seen this method? Might have to install 2016 again?? Manually uninstall Office - Microsoft Office

    @Kari just reminded me that you can use the Microsoft Fix It tool (see this article for more information: 6 Methods to Fully Remove or Uninstall Microsoft Office: option 3) to clean up existing/unwanted Office installations.

    PS: actually he just messaged me on Teams to say it's https://support.office.com/en-gb/art...c-2fdf5dbf61d8. Sorry for the mixup. He also says "It's one of those tools I always recommend to use the latest available version, therefore I never save it, I just click Download and select Run instead of Save."

    Mike, I have Office 365 that comes from a different place than a regular subscription, so the instructions I'm giving will be general, rather than "complete".

    Did you click on Sign In? If not, click on it and see if it takes you to your old Office 365 account where you downloaded Office from (usually office.microsoft.com). Once there and signed in, you need to find "Install Status", which will tell you which computer(s) you've installed Office 365 on. Click on "deactivate", which should then erase that computer from Microsoft's memory. If there is more than one computer listed, deactivate them all, since they will have nothing to do with your standalone copy of Office 2016.

    As a FYI, I'm sure you already know, but since Office 2010, you can no longer use it on both a desktop and laptop; it's for one computer only. {Unless they've changed it back.}
