Failed at first attempt. Nothing shows as an empty folder on an external drive. New folder nor empty new partition.
Create a folder, for instance Macrium_viBoot on your M: drive. In viBoot options, unselect Logging. Change the repository to M:\Macrium_viBoot. Select Logging, click OK to save settings.

    Should work now.

    Shows an invalid path?

Hmm just wondering if this is an issue with having the external drive in an USB 3 caddy connected to an old laptop that has only USB 2 ports. Will find an older USB 2 enclosure to try.

The link in the first post for viBoot doesn't have a download link on the page. I didn't have Hyper V enabled when I installed Macrium. Do I need to reinstall Macrium or is there a different link for the viBoot that I need?

Still showing as not an empty folder.

Had another go on an older Toshiba laptop. Unfortunately settings in BIOS is as empty as a Cathedral on a Saturday night

Still, with this machine, I could select a folder on another partition with 'logging' off. So progress again. Will have another go with my main laptop which is just a couple of years old - sometime.
