Windows 10: KB4090007 Intel microcode Cumulative Update for Windows 10 v1709

Rather it begs the question why haven't MS bothered to update KB4090007 for more than a month. Intel have be busy writing microcode, so why not?
By all accounts, those who have installed the preview of the Spring Creators Update did get a more up to date library, so why the delay for us still on 1709?
I think you might be confusing previews of Spring Creators Update (Redstone 4) with previews of Redstone 5.

I may well be (not being an Insider myself). Either way it suggests MS have got the microcode updates but don't want to give them to us.

1709 MS MC updates for Skylake, Kabylake and Coffeelake and nothing more since.
RS4 no MC updates whatsoever.
RS5 contains updates but I have no clue what's covered and what's not.
I find it mindboggling how they updated RS5 but not RS4 and 1709.

Hi VBF and pietcorus2,
You can update NEW Latest Intel Microcodes (24 for Haswell) yourself with
Uefi Bios Updater.
Then flash your BIOS with new Microcodes.
Cheers
I've been looking into this for a while.
Sure it must be great if you can get it to work but on my machines it just doesn't seem to be willing to cooperate.
All of my PCs use AMI UEFI, not sure what version although I suspect V5.0 modified by Fujitsu.
I noticed that MCU codes are all renamed and not current as well.
And then you'll need MMTool from AMI which is not easy to find either.
IOW, I'm at a loss here....

Hi,
Yep, I've been following this thread.
Thing is that project is a beauty, it can flash just about anything worth flashing but as it stands now it just gives me a headache.
It's too dispersed and seems to be abandoned by its creators which is a shame really.
Cheers,

For some unknown reason, Microsoft chose not to build a layer of protection against Spectre Variant 2 into the Windows kernel like Linux has done with the Linux kernel. And now Microsoft seems to be stalling on making additional CPU microcode updates available on the Microsoft Update Catalog. To me this feels like a tactic to get people to buy new computers.
