I did not like this Guru's response - is it professional?

You are really deluding yourself. After six months, a new version comes out.
Issues that affect one person do not necessarily affect another.

It may well be an issue one person gets is never fixed until the next build.

So by deferring 6 months, you just set yourself back to square 1.

A far better strategy is to make an image backup of existing install, upgrade and try new build, knowing you can revert if issues. Then try again in say 2 months.

Already over 50% of users have moved to 1803 according to recent surveys.

I pay little attention to rants as I find in most cases, it usually comes down to a lack of understanding by the ranter.

Ranters have a horrible tendency to "shoot first, ask questions later", and it is a nightmare trying to sort their issues as they are usually close minded.
For Guru's information: the instances of Sihost hard error and similar problems relating to Windows10 April update, can be viewed in Google search in addition to search in Windows Forums. Please check out those rants.

These problems are widespread - and acknowledged by a USA based MS Support member as well as one based in Asia Pacific. According to these MS Support people, MS is working hard on how to help the affected users.

My continuous experience with MS software started with the very early IBM PCs (in early to mid 1980s - If anyone else can remember them). I have seen software problems and overcame them without too much trouble - but this one takes the cake!!

For the people who experienced these problems, the prognosis is not very good. In addition to almost no windows features available at the power-on (see foot note), the internet access has been blocked/disabled. So, again as reported by some, I was unable to reinstall / replace damaged Windows 10 using the installation media USB that MS support helped to create (they went back to Jan/Feb 2018 update). After 3 weeks of struggle, I am stuck between a 'rock and a hard place' (this is Australian vernacular - may be internationally recognised).

I hope my requests to Windows Forum administrators (see original post) have not fallen on deaf ears.

Foot Note: After power-on, we can use Win+R to access some services; and can start Task Manager (CNTL+ALT+DEL - which makes available some advanced access functions); In addition, using Shift + Restart we can get to advanced problem resolution at boot time. Thats all we can do with the PC. - I followed all credible methods of diagnosis, problem resolution and recovery, suggested by knowledgeable people. Nothing worked so far.

Being a Luddite, I just upgraded my Laptop to 1803 (17134.112) via Windows Update. I had an error message when invited to restart. I just did a manual restart and all updated OK.

I experimented setting Core Isolation but found it slowed my boot time. I was then unable to turn it off and had to use the reg file in Option 2 of this Tutorial Turn On or Off Core Isolation Memory Integrity in Windows 10 Is there anything Brink doesn't have a tutorial for?

This seems an obvious error MS should have fixed by now - hence my continued comments about MS 'quality control'
