The Gibraltar Bankers’ Association, alongside the University of Gibraltar is pleased to announce the launch of the Professional Diploma of Competence in Gibraltar Financial Services.
This cross-sector qualification is focused on Gibraltar specifically and it focuses on local practices, procedures and legislation and is designed to provide a foundational knowledge base as well as industry cohesiveness in terms of level of learning, terminology, best practice and legal requirements.
It is aimed at individuals who are currently working within the Financial Services sector and wish to gain an industry standard qualification, which will provide them with both a solid understanding and insight to seven licensable activities in Gibraltar. It will also provide relationship-building opportunities within each sector.
Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will be awarded a Professional Diploma of Competence in Gibraltar Financial Services from the University of Gibraltar. This qualification is endorsed by the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission.
The course fee is £4000, but has been discounted to £3,750.00 for the inaugural course offering. There is limited availability and applications will be considered on a first-come-first-serve basis.
The University of Gibraltar will be running this course on a part-time basis (evening) to accommodate persons working within a typical office hours. It will commence Wednesday 25 th May 2022 and sessions will take place once a week (Wednesdays) from 18:00 – 20:00 in our main campus. The course is scheduled to complete at the start of April 2023.
Please note that the course timetable includes a summer, mid-term (October 2022), Christmas and mid-term (February 2023) break.

2. Compliance, Risk Management & AML
3. Interpretation of Financial Statements
4. Companies and Trusts
5. Banking
6. Funds & Fund Managers
7. Insurance
8. Distributed Ledger Technology
This Diploma has been intentionally developed in direct consultation with the regulator and industry sectors to provide a higher education award which should serve as an industry standard and in collaboration with: the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC) and seven local Professional Body Associations, namely; Gibraltar Association of Compliance Officers (GACO), Gibraltar Society of Accountants (GSA), Association of Trust and Company Managers Gibraltar (ATCOM), Gibraltar Bankers' Association (GBA), Gibraltar Funds and Investment Association (GFIA), Gibraltar Insurance Institute (GII) and Gibraltar Association for New Technologies (GANT).
